Open Spell

A wacky, educational game that targets spelling skills, especially designed for kids in developing regions. Version 1.0 was localized to support the 11 official languages of South Africa. Open Spell is easy to edit, so teachers can modify this game to suit their classroom, curriculum, and dialect.

Open Spell will soon be available on rural kiosks throughout South Africa thanks to the Digital Doorways. This release would not have been possible without the support of Human Language Technologies research group at Meraka Institute in Pretoria, Republic of South Africa.
