Description

Open Survey (aka TellMee) is an open source tool for creating audio-enabled surveys. It was created in collaboration with the staff of CAL-PEP, an established non-profit in Oakland, California dedicated to AIDS awareness and prevention. This free software enables organizations to effectively gather information about their target population, regardless of literacy level or language spoken.

The visual appearance, the text and the corresponding audio output, consisting of natural voice recordings, is created and updated by using the tool's editor. The result is audio-enabled and easily modifiable surveys that an operator can customize to suit specific tasks, dialects, and subpopulations. Open Survey currently supports English, Spanish, and languages with similar writing systems.

In April, 2007, Tellmee was nominated for the Mellon Award for Technology Collaboration.
